Meth Ghost Rae - Wu Massacre Album Review

2009 was a pretty damn good year for Wu Swordsman, Raekwon, when he dropped the OUTSTANDING and highly anticipated Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II. Everything was everything; as 2009 also featured Chamber Music,The Wizard of Poetry and several tours from both the Clan and the solo members. respectively. 2010 was to be the catalyst of it all. Method Man and Redman hooked up again for BlackOut II and Wu Tang Fans as well as Beatles fans got a nice treat with Wu Tang Clan Vs. The Beatles (mashups) but, today our focus is solely on this gem that almost snuck by most people.... Meth Ghost Rae - Wu Massacre.

Criminology 2.5: features a revived classic beat that most Wu Fans will recognize RIGHT AWAY! Ghost kicks it off and Meth follows. The flow is Vicious!! one hell of a way to kick off an album. Ghost Kills it!

Mef Vs. Chef 2: This beat is HOT!!!! OH MY, sounds ike a war is going on in my speakers! Mef and Rae trade bars nicely, rae has a line that sounds like he dissed Chicago, hope his head is on right about that one. Their flow is equal.

YA MOMS: a skit that follows Mef vs Chef... snap fights, HILARIOUS!

Smooth Sailing Remix (Ft. Solomon Childs & Streetlife) Ghost kicks it off a VERY smooth beat. the features are on point, Meth's flow suffers on this one, Ghost's flow is done with ease and grace. did I mention this beat is SMOOTH!!! perfect title. Im guessing Rae didnt put much work in on this album.

Our Dreams (Ft. Inspectah Deck & Sun God) This beat is AWKWARD! the transitions are jolty! Method man is REALLY lacking in presence and flow on this album thusfar, I have yet to hear him go BEAST! RZA on the beat in attempt to bring back his old style but it suffers. Vocal quality is EH. Ghost is a MONSTER on ALL of this Album thus far.

Raekwon did his THIZZLE on this. but once again the vote and all hats are off to Ghostface Killah

GunShowers: FINALLY! Method Man comes hard. The beat fits him too; BONUS. The beat GOES HARD!

Dangerous: Rae Kicks it off, NICELY. it's a story about drugs and money, the usual you would expect from Raekwon. The beat is NICE, it's like Golden Era Meets Modern Day. Ghost on the hook and second verse, he stole the show AGAIN!!! GhostFace IS A BEAST! He even took a stab at the Jonas Brothers in the process of murdering this track!

Method Man on the third verse, it's OKAY. Method Man needs some work, I am starting to believe what Joey Buddens said. NONE of what Method Man is saying is moving me like it used to.

Pimpin' Chipp: Ghost solo track, MONSTER TRACK AND MONSTER RAPS!!! I expected nothing less from the great Ghostdini! beat is FIRE! Sounds like a rampage, might have to come back to that one after this is done!

How to Pay Rent: a skit by tracy Morgan, it's TRUE AND FUNNY!

MIRANDA: Rae kicks this off nicely, a song about some girl who does well for herself. Ghost sounds like he had a cold or something. Method Man, stepped it up a LITTLE BIT, not much, but better than the most others. this song is very nice and smooth. so going Beast don't matter, the message does. I truly enjoyed this cut, I can even see a video for it.

Last two songs on the album:

Youngstown Heist Ft. Trife, Sheek Louch and Bully.

Sheek Louch is NASTY!!!!!! Ghost and Sheek match each others verses hand to hand and own this song! I forget who else is on there after hearing Ghost and Sheek RIP THIS TRACK UP!....

It's That Wu Shit: very odd beat, I would never have expected to hear something like this from Wu Members, kind of commercial. Ghost dont sound too right on this beat. a few switches and twists and turns, Ghost owns this Album! (Listen to it twice and it begins to grow on you.)

CONCLUSION:

I think this album was pretty dope, it could have been WAY better. I don't know what's up with Meth but he need to come out of his slump, Rae was rarely heard from, which proves my first assumption that he didnt put in much work. some of the beats couldve been smoothed out a bit better. Ghostface owned the whole show, they should have done Ghost Rae and Sheek and left EVERYBODY ELSE OUT OF IT!

The production featured on this album was over all Nicely executed and I think most Wu Fans will truly enjoy this one int heir collection. This Album also comes in various collectors edition Cover Art (look at the bottom of this post)

GRADE:

Lyrics = A (these points are mainly garnered by precise swordsman Ghostface)

Production = B (some of the joints couldve grabbed you a little sooner)

Replayability Level = 8.5

Overall - B-

(NOTE: Me and a close friend reviewed this album at the same time and came down to the same conclusion)
